Interactive storytelling using MakeyMakey
How it works?
Did you test pencil lead for conductivity? The graphite inside a pencil is conductive even though the wood surrounding a pencil is not.
Since pencil lead (also known as graphite) is conductive, that makes pencils and drawings a really cool material for inventing!
Use Sampler App for recording audio or using any mp3 audio to assign MakeyMakey inputs.

How to use Sampler App ?Troubleshooting if your drawing isn't working
- Are the lines dark enough?
- Do the lines cross over each other?
- Usually beginners are recommended to keep their lines separate so that each line makes one distinct sound.
- Is the alligator clip touching the pencil drawing nicely?
- Are somebody’s hands just too dry?
- Try putting out a damp sponge for people with dry hands. Have you clicked on the piano to bring browser focus to the piano?
- Is your sound turned on?
- Try pushing the arrow keys directly on your keyboard and watch the piano on the screen.
- Is the Makey Makey plugged in USB?
- Are you drawing on a smooth, hard surface (like a clipboard)?
- Are you grounded? You have to be touching ground AND touching the arrow input both at the same time.
🌟 The Little Star Who Got Lost
Once upon a time, in the night sky, there was a tiny star named Luma.
Every night, Luma twinkled with her star friends. But one evening, she drifted too far while chasing a comet and got lost!
“Oh no,” Luma whispered. “Where is my place in the sky?”
She floated past the Moon.
“Hello, Moon! Have you seen my star friends?”
The Moon smiled gently. “Keep shining bright, and they will find you.”
Luma kept twinkling, though she felt a little scared. Soon, the other stars saw her sparkle from far away.
“There’s Luma!” they cheered.
They guided her back to her spot, and Luma felt safe again.
From then on, she never stopped shining—because she knew even if she got lost, her friends would always find her.

🐢 Tiko the Slow Turtle
Tiko the turtle lived near a big pond. He was the slowest of all the animals in the forest. The rabbits hopped past him, the squirrels raced up the trees, and even the snails teased, “Hurry up, Tiko!”
One day, a huge storm came. The rain poured down, and the strong wind knocked a little bird out of its nest. The poor bird chirped loudly, unable to fly back.
All the fast animals rushed by, but they were too quick and didn’t notice the bird. Tiko, moving slowly, saw the little bird right away.
“Don’t worry,” said Tiko. Step by step, he carried the bird safely on his shell back to the tree. When the storm ended, the bird’s family was waiting. They all chirped happily, “Thank you, Tiko!”
From that day on, the forest animals learned something important: being slow can be just right when you care and take your time.
And Tiko? He smiled proudly and kept walking at his own steady pace.

🐤 The Little Bird Who Didn’t Want to Fly
Pipi was a small bird who lived in a cozy nest high in a tree. Her brothers and sisters had already learned to fly, swooping through the air happily.
But Pipi shook her head.
“I don’t want to fly,” she said. “It looks too high and too scary!”
One morning, a colorful butterfly fluttered by.
“Hello, little bird! Why don’t you join me in the sky?”
Pipi sighed. “I’m afraid I’ll fall.”
The butterfly smiled. “Then just try one flap. One little flap is all it takes.”
So Pipi flapped her wings—once, then twice. Suddenly, the air lifted her, and she floated!
She wobbled and dipped, but she didn’t fall.
“Look! I’m flying!” Pipi chirped happily.
From then on, Pipi loved the sky. And whenever she felt nervous, she remembered: big things begin with one small flap.

🐘 Elli and the Forgotten Waterhole
In the heart of a hot savanna lived a gentle elephant named Elli. Every day, she led her herd to the big watering hole. But one summer, the watering hole dried up!
The zebras panicked. The giraffes looked worried. The monkeys chattered loudly.
“What will we drink?” everyone cried.
Elli closed her eyes and thought hard. She remembered a story her grandmother once told her: “Far beyond the acacia trees, there is a hidden pool that never dries.”
“I’ll find it,” Elli said bravely.
Step by step, she marched across the dry land. The other animals followed. It was a long journey, and the sun was strong, but Elli never gave up.
Finally, she pushed aside some tall grass—and there it was! A sparkling pool of fresh, cool water. The animals cheered with joy.
From that day on, Elli wasn’t just the gentle elephant—she was Elli the Wise, the one who remembered, the one who led with courage.
