So....... Waste management refers to the various schemes to manage and dispose of wastes. It can be by discarding, destroying, processing, recycling, reusing, or controlling wastes. The prime objective of waste management is to reduce the amount of unusable materials and to avert potential health and environmental hazards. There are many alternative names for waste management including waste disposal, garbage disposal, and recycling. A waste management definition is activities that include collecting, destroying, and disposing of waste. Waste materials can consist of paper, plastic, glass, metal, or organic matter. everything that we eat will one day become a waste. there is alot of waste on our earth and most of it are food and plastic. there are some several types/methods for waste management such as: landfilling, incineration, recycling, composting, waste-to-energy, and source reduction.

Different activities include collection, monitoring, regulation, and disposal.

WHAT IS WASTE MANAGEMENT

Waste management refers to the processes involved in managing waste from cradle to grave. This includes the collection, transportation, disposal/recycling and monitoring of waste materials produced as a result of human activity.

Waste Disposal Methods

There are multiple waste management strategies and methods available. These strategies can be combined or rearranged to form a waste management system that fits an organization. Modern waste management strategies are geared towards sustainability. Other alternatives for waste disposal is to reduce, reuse, and recycle waste.

Recycling

also known as physical reprocessing, recycling is ideal for the disposal of inorganic waste such as plastic, glass, and metals. Though organic waste such as paper and food can also be recycled, composting would be a better waste disposal method as it converts organic waste into nutrient-rich fertilizer.

Waste-to-Energy

also known as WtE on the other hand, is the conversion of non-recyclable waste into heat, electricity, or fuel using renewable energy sources such as anaerobic digestion and plasma gasification.

Anaerobic Digestion

the biological reprocessing of animal manure and human excreta into methane-rich biogas. Plasma gasification uses a plasma-filled vessel operating at high temperatures and low levels of oxygen to transform hazardous waste into syngas. Another option for disposing of hazardous waste is bioremediation, the treatment of contaminants, toxins, and pollutants through micro-organisms.

Put simply, waste management enables us to look after the cleanliness of the world. The way in which waste is managed can have a significant impact on the environment and the entire population’s health, so it’s vital that measures are in place to effectively manage and dispose of these materials. Failure to implement appropriate waste management techniques can lead to environmental concerns and health issues.
